White Cloud Campground

is a Forest Service Campground located on Highway 20, 12 miles east of Nevada City.  We were looking for camping near Nevada City as a different place to visit.  It is a little further up the road from Scotts Flat campground.  I knew with our motor home, we would be taking a chance with a Forest Service campground, but decided to give it a try since the site said it was large enough.  We wanted to escape the Sacramento Valley for the weekend this summer.   It looked nice online, and it was about the only thing not booked up the week before we wanted to go.

    But will we fit?

We arrived at White Cloud campground and were greeted by our very nice camp

Tight spaces for our big rig

hostess Pat, telling us she didn’t think we would fit in any of her sites.   We had made reservations online, and it stated that it would take our size rig, but it did look tight.  But we decided to give it a try. It was tight, and we couldn’t get totally level, but we did fit after a bit of trying to get into the site.  It was nice & quiet, and a bit cooler than the heat in the Sacramento Valley.  Once past the stress of trying to fit the big beast into the site (along with motor home & tow vehicle issues), we did have a nice time.   The plus side of this campground is that is camping, not just an RV park.

    Relaxing!

    Nevada City Camping

While this campground is Nevada City camping, it is close enough to run into town and play tourist.  There is camping in Nevada City at the Inn Town Campground.  It looked nice when we drove through it.  We just wanted to be further out of town.
