Pismo Beach

    Pismo Beach

    Pismo Beach

Pismo BeachPismo Beach California – On the last leg of our trip after Morro Bay, we took a quick tour of Montana de Oro State Park.  Loved watching the waves!

We took a lunch trip on our way to check out the Madonna Inn.  Quite interesting – a must-stop if you have never seen a pink dining room.  There was a long wait to eat, so we ate elsewhere, then headed out to our campsite in Pismo Beach.  But first, we wandered around the grounds and it was definitely fun.

    Pismo Beach

We stayed in a county park just outside of the State Park (the only RV space available as it was a busy time for vacationers).  It worked out nicely for us.

John was THRILLED to be able to DRIVE the jeep on the beach … you know what they say about boys and their toys.  He even was able to pull out some not-so-smart mustang driver that was stuck.  We were unaware that you can camp right on the beach!  No hook-ups of course, but we don’t mind roughing it for a few days.  That will definitely be a stop on our next trip that way.  Just have to be careful when you park you take into account the high tide.  Several people were a little too close for comfort!  We watched a couple of trucks and trailers that were stuck, and the bigger trucks pulling them out.

    Cool Cat Cafe

We found a great place to eat – Cool Cat Cafe.  Great food!

Walked the town a couple of times, with some good little souvenir shops, and also walked along the pier.

And of course, another wine tasting at Sans Liege.   Definitely heading back someday for our beach camping trip, or at least close to the beach so that we can have more fun.

The main attraction in Pismo Beach is undoubtedly its breathtaking beaches. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful spot to soak up some sun or a place to engage in adventure activities like surfing or kayaking, there’s something here for everyone. Stroll along Pismo’s 3 sprawling beaches – Pismo State Beach (also known as North Beach), Grover Beach (or South Beach), and Shell Beach – each with its own distinct personality and offerings.

Be sure not to miss out on checking out one of the live musical performances which often occur during summer evenings!

For those looking to be close but not too close – camping is another popular pastime in Pismo Beach (which is how we like to travel!). Popular parks include Oceano Campground & RV Park with its incredible views over adjacent wetlands; while Laguna Lake Campground offers direct access to Laguna Lake where visitors can spend hours fishing for bass and trout among other activities such as boating on its peaceful waters. So whatever your idea of relaxation involves – come experience it all at beautiful Pismo beach!
